Título: Detection and localization of Fast Radio Bursts with the BINGO

Resumo: Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are astrophysical events characterized by a brief bright pulse in the radio spectrum of unknown extragalactic origin. These signals are expected to be detected more often in the future by many radio-telescopes like CHIME, ASKAP, and BINGO. Once their locations can be determined with precision FRBs will become powerful astrophysical and cosmological probes. This seminar will present the basics of the FRB astrophysics and describe how the BINGO radio telescope will be used as an FRB finder.
